April Fools' Blank is the 7th episode in Season 3 of Victorious, making it the 41st episode overall. It aired on March 24th, 2012. This episode is considered non-canon.

Plot[]

V2

Tori rides through space in the opening theme song instead of Hollywood.

April fools

Instead of Victorious, "April Fools" is read on the building in the opening theme song.

Pie school

Instead of Hollywood Arts High School, the school name reads "Hollyweird Arts Pie School."

Carly

The iCarly cast appears inside the bubble.

Tori realizes nobody at Hollywood Arts celebrates April Fools' Day, even though numerous random things happen: Mr. Belding appears and steals Tori's bag, Cat randomly blows a trumpet, Robbie's chair floats up, Drake Bell picks up Tori, and Sikowitz explodes.

In the hallway, André runs up to Tori, telling her that there's war. After Tori asks if it's Switzerland, André tells her to forget the war because there's going to be a pop quiz, which he found out about in the bathroom at the urinal. When she talks about it, he again tells her to forget about the test because of the war. He then runs off to recycle some aluminum, and singing "The Star Spangled Banner", but is shot in the leg by a Swiss arrow and is carried out by two congress-looking men. Tori then gets to class by calling for a helicopter.

Then, in a Wizard of Oz parody (called "The Wizard of Wazz"), Cat (as Dorothy) comes into the girl's' restroom with the video in sepia. She puts her fish, Tofu, down, before opening a window to which a fan is attached. She accidentally hits herself against a stall and is knocked out. With the video now in color, Cat wakes up. Tori comes out of a stall (as Glinda, the Good Witch of the North) and sees Cat has the ruby cellphone. Jade (as the Wicked Witch Of The West) comes out of a stall with a burst of red smoke and tries to grab the ruby cellphone, but it shocks her. Jade then leaves, speaking her stage directions. With Tori happily following, she suggests Cat should "wazz." When Cat is confused, Robbie the Scarecrow, André the Lion, and Beck, playing the Tin Man, say that they can help her find her way. Suddenly, breaking the fourth wall, 2nd assistant director Mike Caron appears and tells Leon he is late for a scene. André/Leon quickly leaves the set, and we transition into the next scene.

Tori and Sikowitz.

Victorious 70

The cast in "Match Play", a parody of the '70s game show, "Match Game".

At the Asphalt Café, André meets Tori for lunch and they are hand-fed fancy food by two feeding children. The children run away when Robbie comes to warn Tori that the Beverly Hills Volcano is about to explode. Robbie begs Tori to spend her last few minutes alive kissing him, but they are cut off when Beck comes in to tell them that the volcano has "retired" and is now in Florida.

In the next scene, Jade is surprisingly nice to Tori, even tickling her to cheer her up when she is upset that no one cares about April Fools' Day. Sikowitz interrupts this when he tells the girls to go to the janitor's closet. Upon entering the closet, Tori appears on the iCarly set, says hey to Spencer as she passes him, and onto the set of a game show, Match Play (a spoof of the mid-1970's incarnation of Match Game).

On "Match Play", Tori has to fill in a blank and match a panelist to win $5,000, but they choose the most random words, causing Tori to lose each round and keep getting pushed to the floor by the dancing lobster from The Amanda Show.

After the game show, it cuts to the next scene, where Tori's neighbor comes into her living room looking for advice. The episode ends with everyone spontaneously performing the song Shut Up N' Dance and the lobster dances with them. They all fall to the floor at the end of the song. The cast, as if a sketch comedy show, act like themselves and thank the viewers for watching, a person dressed as Lady Gaga shows up, and they tell everyone to go to TheSlap.com.

Trivia[]

  • During the Match Play scene, Robbie screams "I was on Broadway!" Matt Bennett never was on Broadway, but many other actors on the show were.
    • However, he is parodying Match Game panelist Charles Nelson Reilly, who was a noted Broadway actor/producer.
  • This episode is non-canon. No ships can be taken seriously due to all of the characters acting majorly out-of-character.
  • This is one of those times when someone (Sikowitz) taking someone else (Tori and Jade) to the janitor's closet). The same previously happened in Jade Dumps Beck, The Great Ping Pong Scam, Cat's New Boyfriend, Wok Star, The Breakfast Bunch and The Worst Couple.
    • Although the difference in these episodes is that Sikowitz does not drag them by the arm or foot, but kindly asks them to go.
  • The goat with the party hat from the Zoey 101 episode, "Webcam".
  • Even though this episode takes place on April 1st, it aired on March 24th because Nickelodeon's Kids Choice Awards were the following week.
  • Victoria says that this is "The funniest episode that she has ever filmed."[1]
  • iCarly, How to Rock, and Bucket & Skinner all had an April Fools' episode air on the same night as this one.
  • This is the only time Sikowitz appears in the Vega's house.
  • This is the second Victorious episode based on a holiday, the first one being A Christmas Tori.
  • This is the second game show the gang participated in, the first being Queries for Couples in The Worst Couple.
  • Drake Bell, Jerry Trainor, and Dennis Haskins all guest star.
  • When Drake picks up Tori, he picks her up over her shoulder, like the lyric in the Drake & Josh theme song "I Found A Way": "Over your shoulder, I know that I told you I'd always be pickin' you up when you're down."
  • This is the third time a Drake and Josh actor has appeared on the show. The first being Josh Peck in Wok Star and the second being Yvette Nicole Brown in Helen Back Again.
  • This is the second time Jerry Trainor starred in a Victorious episode. The first being Jade Dumps Beck as an audience member in Trina's one-woman show, Trina!
  • Leon's and Ariana's intros are the only ones that don't feature scenes from this episode. Both are actually from the following episode, Driving Tori Crazy.
    • Leon's intro from when Tori and his Grandma are driving to school is in a field surrounded by buffalo.
    • Ariana's intro from the party pus is underwater.
  • The episode includes a cast performance of "Shut Up N' Dance".
  • When Jade goes to the janitor's closet for "Match Play", she sounds and acts like Pee-Wee Herman.
  • Everyone except Trina does a parody of The Wizard of Oz in the girls' bathroom at Hollywood Arts.
    • Except in the opening sequence, there is a clip of her dressed as an Oompa-Loompa exiting a stall with André as the Cowardly Lion standing right by her, which was apparently cut from the episode.
  • This is the second time Jade has been shocked, the first being in Rex Dies.
  • Gibby's Head makes a few cameos: twice in the opening sequence, once when Tori passes through the Shay's apartment with Spencer crushing its hair, and on the Vega's fireplace during "Shut Up N' Dance".
  • The fourth wall is broken throughout the episode.
    • André breaks the fourth wall by answering to his real name when a director tells him he needs to get to the next scene.
    • André says 3 and half minutes is how long a commercial break is.
    • During the "Match Play" scene, Trina holds a card saying "cut to the next scene" and it literally cuts to the next scene.
    • The Victorious Cast thanks the viewers for watching and tells them to check out TheSlap.com.
  • The Dancing Lobster from The Amanda Show makes a special appearance. Sikowitz also says Debbie during "Match Play", who is from The Girls' Room sketch on The Amanda Show, although this might not intentionally be a reference to the same Debbie.
  • This is the second time the cast was out of character, first being The Breakfast Bunch.
  • The sign on Hollywood Arts read "Hollyweird Arts Pie School" in this episode.
  • This episode had different opening credits than the rest of Season 3.
    • Every new episode since this one has included the shot of the entire cast falling to the floor at the end of the song right before the episode continues.
  • During the episode, Matt Bennett posted several fun facts on Twitter, including:
    • In the end, you can see him getting the Lady Gaga impersonator's phone number.
    • "Where's the beef?" is a reference to Wendy's commercial in the 80s.
    • Dan Schneider took the whole cast to dinner in their 70s costumes.
    • The guy in the hat is Mike Caron.
    • The Hollywood Arts bathroom toilets aren't real toilets; they're a television set.
    • He has never taken a dance class, but claims he is "just a naturally great dancer".
    • Whether you watch the show or not, Rex gets paid either way.
  • This is the second time Robbie has been punched in the face, the first being by Tori in Tori the Zombie.
  • This is the second time Cat has ever punched someone in the face, the first being Tori in Cat's New Boyfriend.
  • This is the first time of the season Daniella Monet has a solo and sings seriously (not as Trina).
  • At the beginning of the episode, Tori jokes that her mom slammed her hand in the car door. This might be a reference to Sleepover at Sikowitz's when Jade said she would rather slam her tongue in a car door and actually hurts her hand from breaking Sikowitz's neighbor's car window, and in The Worst Couple when she asks to slam her face in a car door.
  • When Robbie was being lifted in his chair, his shoulders looked buff.
  • The ending parodied Saturday Night Live, complete with the credit format, goodnights, and music.
  • Everyone wore the same clothes throughout the whole episode, except for when they did the Match Play and Wizard of Oz scenes.
  • Sikowitz references Drake Bell and Saved by the Bell when he said "Wait, was that the bell?" before the school bell rings.
  • In the title sequence, the iCarly gang flies through in a bubble, which is the iCarly episode, iApril Fools, which aired the same night as this one did.
  • This is the third episode where Tori does not post any status updates, the first two being Part 2 of Locked Up! and The Breakfast Bunch.
  • It is possible André might be bisexual, as he replies when Robbie actually said to Tori: "Let's kiss." in which André replies: "Okay, come here" although this could be a part of the episode jokes, and this episode is non-canon.
  • This is the second time Tori had a trumpet blown by her ear. The first time was by Sikowitz in iParty with Victorious.
  • This is the second episode with an ending tagline that uses the word "wazz". The first was Wi-Fi in the Sky, which had Trina saying "Enjoy your wazz!"
  • This episode was originally scheduled to air after Crazy Ponnie.
  • Tori's closing monologue is a reference to Saturday Night Live. She references SNL creator and producer Lorne Michaels.
  • This is the second time Cat has pigtails, the first is in Wok Star.
  • This is the second episode where a movie is spoofed. The first was The Breakfast Bunch.
  • This is the third episode to have a different opening from the seasons. The first two being Freak the Freak Out and Locked Up!.
  • This is the first normal length episode to have different opening credits.
  • Dennis Haskins reprises his role as Mr. Belding from the hit shows Good Morning, Miss Bliss, Saved by the Bell, and Saved By The Bell: The New Class.
  • Tori thanks special guest star Lady Gaga, although when she comes out, it wasn't the actual Lady Gaga.
  • Rex only appears in the final scene and has 3 lines. 2 off-camera and a backing part in Shut Up N' Dance.
  • This episode was shown on the Henry Danger episode, "[w:c:dangerverse:Space Invaders|Space Invaders]]", when Piper and her friends were waiting for her Fred Lobster commercial to come on.
  • After Tori and Trina transition to their home due to Trina's card saying "cut to the next scene", Trina says "But I want an Oompa Loompa now." This is a reference to Veruca Salt's famous line in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
  • Ending tagline: Tori: "You could wazz."

Goofs[]

  • The episode takes place during an entire day. However, April Fools' jokes ends at noon by convention.
  • When Robbie was lifted up in the air, the harness' reflection can be seen on the window. A faint pulling noise can be heard as the chair starts lifting up.
  • During the Wizard of Oz scene, before Tori gets out of the restroom, the stall door which Jade went out is open, but when Tori went out of the restroom, the stall door was closed.
  • During the Wizard Of Oz scene, Cat's ruby cell phone automatically disappears out of her hands, but when Robbie comes as a scarecrow, the phone appears again.
  • After Tori finishes recording Sikowitz, she puts her phone in her back pocket, but when she turns around, her phone is not in the pocket.
  • When Tori presses the button to play Shut Up N' Dance, Gibby's head appears on top of the fireplace.
  • Beck is on the stairs at one point during Shut Up N' Dance, and then he is by the piano for the next 2 shots, then he is back on the stairs.
  • During the song, Tori's mouth does not move the second time she and Cat sing "'Cause I can't wait no more".
  • Right before the song ends and everyone falls down, Cat pushes her hair back, but when they fall, her hair is in front of her.

Running Gags[]

  • Tori being upset about no one celebrating April Fools' Day.
  • 4th wall breaks.
  • A lobster running around.
  • The panel giving Tori a different answer
  • The lobster pushing people down
  • Cat playing the trumpet in Tori's face, making her fall to the floor
547913 10151099625173308 2061845676 n
  • Saved by the Bell - The teacher, Mr. Belding, appears in the opening scene and references Zack and Screech from the same show. When Drake Bell runs in and "saves" Tori, Sikowitz asks, "Was that the Bell?"
  • The Amanda Show - The Dancing Lobsters make several appearances throughout. The set design of Match Play is also similar to The Amanda Show set.
  • The Wizard of Oz - Cat plays Dorothy, Beck plays the Tin Man, André plays the Cowardly Lion, Robbie plays the Scarecrow, Jade plays the Wicked Witch, and Tori plays Glinda. Instead of a dog named Toto, Cat has a goldfish named Tofu.
  • iCarly - Tori runs through apartment 8-C and says "Hey, Spencer!" before leaving and he says, "'Sup, Tori?" as he is brushing Gibby's head. T-Bo's time traveling bubble flies through the Hollywood Arts hallway with Carly, Sam, Freddie, and Spencer inside during the opening theme. Gibby’s head can also be seen twice in the opening sequence and during the "Shut Up N' Dance" scene.
  • Match Game - Match Play is a parody of this. Sikowitz is host Gene Rayburn, André is Nipsey Russell, Jade is Brett Somers, Robbie is Charles Nelson Reilly, and Beck is Richard Dawson. Cat's and Trina's impersonations are unclear, but Cat was possibly impersonating Elaine Joyce or Jo Ann Pflug, and Trina was possibly impersonating Trish Stewart or Fannie Flagg.
  • Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory - Trina says, "But I want an Oompa Loompa now!" after Tori complains about her moving to the next scene. Trina is also shown dressed as an Oompa Loompa in the opening credits, but that part was not in the actual episode.
  • Wendy's - "Where's the beef?"
  • Saturday Night Live - The closing credits where Tori and the gang thank everyone.
  • All That - Having a musical performance/guest star at the end of the show.

André: Tori! Tori! Did you hear, did you hear the news?!
Tori: What? What happened?

André: The same amount of time as a commercial break.
Tori: Well, what do we do?
Robbie: I say we kiss.
André: Okay. Come here.
Robbie: Not you. (looks at Tori) You. I want my last 3 and 1/2 minutes to be spent with my face, smooshed against your face.
Tori: Are there any other ideas?
Robbie: (begging) Tori, please?
Tori: (nodding) Alright.

Rex: (frame freezes) Stay tuned for the second half of Victorious. Or don't, I get paid either way.
Rex: And now, we continue with the exciting second half of Victorious. Press play. (frame unfreezes)

Beck: Wait! Sinjin has 2 big jugs of Anti-Butterfly Spray! (crowd cheers)
Sinjin: (looks up and removes the nozzle from his mouth) But I drank them!

Crowd: Yay!
Tori: Wait! I just got a text that says apples make your hair fall out!
Crowd: Aww!
Sikowitz: (holds apple) What's done is done. (Eats apple as the Lobster runs down the street in the background)
